The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) presented the Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park with an award for “exemplary corporate support to the Ohio military veterans and national guard and reserve community through the sponsorship of projects and programs that provide extraordinary assistance.”
The Rocksino team sat down with the ESGR to receive this amazing award. We are honored to give thanks and support all of our country’s men and women for their sacrifice and dedication to protect our freedom. A big thank you to the ESGR for the recognition and an even bigger thank you to the armed forces for their service.
NOMINATION LETTER FROM THE ESGR
“Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park’s commitment to actively recruit and retain Guard and Reserve members starts at the top of the company and permeates the entire organization. Two of Hard Rock’s founding mottos, “Love All-Serve All” and “Take Time to Be Kind,” in particular, provide unwavering direction, preference, and unity to successfully fulfill its commitment.
In 2013 President Mark Birtha, signed ESGR’s “Statement of Support”.
Later the Rocksino earned the ESGR’s “Patriot” Award, and in the following years won the “Above and Beyond Award” and “Seven Seals Award.”
An essential part of the Rocksino’s recruitment strategy consistently strives to hire, promote, and support Guard and Reserve personnel. Implementation is successfully achieved via partnerships with military employment assistance groups, including the Veterans Employment Center, Ohio Means Jobs, as well as job fairs like “Hiring Our Heroes”.
Over the last few years, the Rocksino participated in 19 job fairs. In addition it added a new position entitled, “Job Coach,” which includes military personnel who act as “on-the-job” mentors for new employees.
All managers and supervisors are required to participate in mandatory leadership training and development programs. At the workshops, military personnel share proven leadership techniques. Their participation is highly valued, as well as their ability to inspire their team members to not only meet but exceed goals.
Diverse, self-initiated, voluntary outreach initiatives designed specifically for veterans and active duty members of the armed services and their families stem from the Rocksino’s commitment to “Take Time to Be Kind.”
On Veterans Day in 2015, Cleveland TV Station, FOX8, featured a live, on sight news broadcast on the Rocksino initiatives, featuring members of the Guard and Reserves. Birtha spoke about the company’s support of them, as well as it having been awarded ESGR’s “Patriot” and “Above and Beyond Awards”. The 1.5 hour, 4-part live broadcast reached over 240,000 households in NE Ohio. During the interview with the Rocksino’s President, Mr. Birtha, spoke of the Rocksino’s support for the military and pointed to the table which contained the trophies and plaques representing ESGR awards. The camera focused on the awards – the ESGR words appeared bright and clear on the news screens!
In 2016 the Rocksino held a variety of events during its “Veterans Day Week of Honor,” to salute our country’s military men and women for their sacrifice and dedication in protecting our freedom. Those events raised $5,000 for Reservists and their families. Subsequently, these funds were donated to the “Foundation for Ohio Guard and Reserve.”
As part of the events, the Rocksino, in support of (ESGR), conducted a social media challenge which created awareness of its support, as well as ESGR’s support, of our Reservists. This was a paid advertisement on Cleveland’s Fox8-TV, ($3,500) reaching 1.5 million households in Northeast Ohio.
Also, the Rocksino extended an opportunity to Chaker Fadel (ESGR) to participate in a live broadcast on FOX8 to increase awareness of ESGR and its role of support of the Guard and Reserve.
Additionally, the Rocksino initiated a corporate partnership with Red Bull to increase awareness of the Guard and Reserve and the need to support them and their families throughout the month of November. To culminate the event, the Rocksino served 784 free meals at its Fresh Harvest Buffet on Veterans Day to all veterans and active duty personnel, including guard and reserve members. The free meals (breakfast and dinner) equate to an in-kind donation of $10,300.
Previously, as part of a month-long, memorable salute to all members of the military, the Rocksino provided its employees and the public with an opportunity to write individual messages of support, appreciation and thanks by signing a special “signing wall.” The wall was custom built by employees.
Further, the Rocksino launched a unique community initiative. Members of the public nominated military personnel to receive five (5) new, queen-size ultra-premium memory foam mattress sets. The company also featured a chef-crafted burger, inspired by ingredients submitted by Rocksino Veterans and members of the guard and reserve. Ten percent of all proceeds ($2,500) benefitted the “Twinsburg Community Hunger Center.”
Over the past three years, the Rocksino donated 260 turkeys to shelters for homeless veterans and The Emergency Assistance Center to help feed the hungry, including former and active military personnel and their families.
Previously, in partnership with Live Nation the Rocksino hosted a charity concert, benefiting Fisher House, to help the organization provide comfort homes at no cost to military and veteran’s families.
From community outreach and partnerships to a strong commitment to hire, train and develop, and support the Guard and Reserve members and all members of the military, the Rocksino continually demonstrated the greatest support to Guard and Reserve employees in their leadership and practices, including (the creation of and commitment to) personnel policies that make it easier for employees to participate in the National Guard and Reserve.
We of the Ohio ESGR and the Foundation for the Ohio Guard and Reserve truly appreciate this outstanding support and hope our Troops can look forward to more of the same.”
